Fragrant Victory

CORE-RELATE!

But thanks be to GOD, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him." - 2 Corinthians 2:14

It is by no accident that the chapter and the verse may remind some of 2/14 or Feb.14 which is commonly known around the world as Valentine's Day. I am not here to answer whether or not Valentine's Day is of Biblical origin. I am posting this with one thing in mind: love.

No matter how difficult or ugly the circumstance you are in right now, remember that GOD... "always leads us". God doesn't lead us to bad decisions but oftentimes it is due to our pride, stubbornness or disbelief that we are led to unpleasant situations.

GOD "always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ..." not to defeat, not to giving in to sinful, worldly values, but to victory IN CHRIST. True, we are still humans, steeped in sin at birth, prone to commit sin which breaks the heart of God and destroys our fellowship with Him BUT being "only human" is no excuse to give in to sin. Because IN CHRIST and only in Him, do we have victory over our sins.

GOD "...through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him." We are not and will not ever be God. We can make gods of the small "g" out of other human beings like ourselves or whatever we give utmost importance to in our lives but we will never ever be God. There is only one God who, in all His mercy, works THROUGH us.

Knowing God is a beautiful thing which we can never, ever consider an "achievement" we can boast about. Knowing God is a gift He bestows, by His grace, to those who believe Him not thru mere intellect but as a matter of the will: heart, mind, body and spirit. Knowing God intimately results to a fragrant life, a positive life, a joyful - not just happy - life which contagiously affects those around us.

Are you a Christian? Your life, my friend, isn't expected to be perfect but sweet-smelling, all by the grace of God. But your life isn't to be marked by defeat but victory because "Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world." You can overcome, because Christ has overcome it all just for you!

Are there sins in your life that you are hiding from people? Those sins are guaranteed to reek of odor, like a dead rat, sooner than you think. God knows about each and everyone of them - even the thoughts and the attitude of your heart right now as you read this post. He loves you. He has a plan for you. Stop beating yourself up for your sins. Just come to Him, come to Christ as you are. He is alive. He is waiting, ready to forgive, ready to love. Receive His love. Receive His victory!
